Since most investigations occur in the evening in low light situations and paranormal activity is renowned as an energy-draining phenomenon, reliable lighting is a very important issue while investigating the presence of paranormal activity. For that reason, we use various lighting equipment for different situations. Below is an explanation of how we use our lights.

Glow Sticks
Some investigations require maneuvering through dark areas. We place Glow Sticks in these areas to mark trails, danger areas, and to mark equipment left in dark areas. This helps to insure safety and an easy retrieval of all equipment. Some Glow Sticks can last up to 12 hours and come in a variety of colors for various uses. We use red for danger areas, green for paths and trails, yellow for equipment, etc.  Glow Sticks do not appear to be severally effected by energy draining phenomenon.
NOTE: Please remember to pick up and discard at the end of the investigation.

Flashlights
Batteries:
Since batteries power flashlights and batteries tend to drain during paranormal activity; we use a variety of flashlights with different power sources.
We use:

Inexpensive Flashlights with Disposable  AA, C & D batteries

Mag-lite & Streamlight Flashlights with Rechargeable Nickel-                Cadmium rechargeable battery pack.

Battery Free Flashlights - Shaking this flashlight recharges the power  source. NOTE: This flashlight has a strong magnetic field and must be kept away from any device that may be damaged or altered by magnetic fields (computers, ELF & EMF  detectors).

Book lights - These small lights attach to our clipboards to illuminate our paperwork.

Filters:
Flashlights with red lens (fliters) - We use red lenses around inferred, nightshot, and super nightshot capable equipment. Using this lens helps to prevent damage to light sensitive equipment.

Candles
It always pays to be prepared. We always take some candles and a lighter. Just in case everything else fails!!!
